For this edition of Remarks with Republicans, we head to Brown County, Illinois, for a conversation with Brown County Republican Chairman David Kurfman.

County chairmen have a unique view of politics. While statewide and national races often receive most of the attention, county organizations are where much of the work happens at the local level—from organizing events and communicating with voters to bringing candidates into their communities and keeping people engaged between elections.

David joined us to talk about his role as Brown County Republican Chairman, what led him to become involved in local politics, and what it takes to keep a county organization active in a small, rural Illinois community.

Our conversation also gives viewers an opportunity to get to know the person behind the title. We talk about David’s background, his experiences in Brown County, and his perspective on grassroots political involvement.

We recorded this interview while attending the Brown County Republican Fall Dinner in Mt. Sterling, where Republicans from across the area gathered for an evening of conversation and local political activity.

That is exactly what Remarks with Republicans is about: sitting down with the people involved in Republican politics throughout Illinois and giving them an opportunity to tell their own stories.

Watch our conversation with David Ku

rfman, Chairman of the Brown County Republican Central Committee, and learn a little more about the people working behind the scenes in local Republican organizations.
