For this edition of Remarks with Republicans, we sat down with Debra Lewis, Chairwoman of the Cass County Republican Party, to learn more about the person behind the title and her experience in local politics.

County party organizations are built largely on the work of local volunteers and leaders. During our conversation, Debra shares how she became involved, what led her to take on the role of county chairwoman, and what that position looks like behind the scenes.

We also talk about the Cass County Republican organization, the work that goes into keeping a local party active, and some of the opportunities and challenges that come with encouraging involvement at the local level.

One of the goals of Remarks with Republicans is to introduce viewers to the people involved in Republican organizations throughout our area—not just elected officials and candidates, but also the local leaders and volunteers who spend their time organizing meetings, events, and other party activities.

Our conversation with Debra is another chance to learn about one of those local leaders and hear her story in her own words.
